I like the close crop, and b&w seems to work well for this shot. However, there's a wide tonal range in the subject (quite harsh lighting), and on my monitor it looks like some of the highlights are blown, particularly right above the eye. Looks like a sweet dog, BTW.

I noticed that the upper left corner and bottom right corner of the 2nd version seems a bit odd,so here's my 3rd version..
