Very nice photo. I like the orange/reddish coloring in the squirrel.

To me, it just needs a tighter crop. The space above and the right of this little guy - while nicely blurred - doesn't add to the shot.

My 2 cents.

What composition? This is your basic "here is squirrel; shoot squirrel" shot. Anyone with a Point-and Shoot camera can get this shot, seven days a week. Composition means you gave thought to where in the image things were being placed, the visual lines of movement and to all of the elements in your image, even the ones that are out of focus, to make sure that you have balance, flow and movement. Call me Simon Cowell if you must, but none of those things exist here.
How do you fix it? I recently found a great site to get you started:

And don't give up. My first shots were a lot worse.

Nice shot johnny....................The top portion doesn't add anything to the composition, so i would crop it out. There is also a tree in the background going through the squirrel's head. It would look better if you clone it out.

Nice colour & sharp subject but I'd maybe clone out the trunk in the background that's currently going through it's head. Tighter crop might also enhance it a bit too.
