Default What's Up?

I took this photo of my dog. He saw me taking pictures and decided to take a closer look of what I was doing. He was 8 months here, today he is more than a year old. I have to say he still is as adorable as he was here! Let me know if you like it, or what I could improve on. I am trying to post a lot of my pictures on here just to get myself out there.

His face is under exposed---so it is hard to tell just how cute he is.

I love the head tilt! But have to agree... his face is very dark. Have you tried getting down on the ground to take shots from his eye level? I find that makes a huge difference with dogs!

Cool shot, but I agree with the others about the underexposure here. Have you tried setting your camera to spot meter ? If not give it a try.

Smile Cute puppy!

You did manage to find a cute capture of this munchkin!

RE aforementioned darkness....if you took the photograph with your camera set on RAW, then you should be able to play with your EV exposure value settings in your RAW photoprocessing program, and layer various resulting jpg exposure value images in photoshop saving the best features of each... OR...

If JPG is all you have, then fix the dark underexposure in photoshop with screen layers and use the vector mask on the areas which need it, and leave the other areas as is.

When shooting black faced dogs, set your EV to a + or positive amount, or add more light to your room/area to provide highlights to the black fur. Opening up the apeture and letting light in that way doesn't work too well, as it will slow down the camera, and most animals need a high shutter speed in case they move, and then it is a blurry picture and still does not show the cute puppy. Good luck! I have a solid solid black black puppy, and have been trying to capture her, and I have a few takes of her in super bright sunlight when out in the car, and when putting in a bright bright light, or else she is a black black blob Our apricot streaks coloured puppy is so so much easier.
