Hi, happilyinvisible. I find your purple flower interesting. I like the idea behind the water drops. This subject has the potential of being a great shot. Now for the constructive criticism: The background is very distracting, especially the green support material. If that same flower was to be detached and placed in a more natural setting, it would be much improved. Likewise, I like my flowers taken "head on". I am distracted by the depth of field blur in the petal pointing directly at the camera. I imagine that you were trying to get the best background you could so you took this angle. I also find the framing a bit too close. The very top of the flower is cut off.
I appreciate your attempt and want you to keep trying. A couple of adjustments and I believe you could easily have a photo worth framing and hanging in your gallery. The color combination is fantastic and the lighting is very good. Your subject is certainly willing to stand still while you play with other positions!
