The
Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro will expand your shooting possibilities
and appears to be a good lens (I don't own one).
Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens Review

and the 50mm F1.8 will be better for low light shooting. It is good value for money (I own one)

Neither will replace your kit lens - for that I would suggest the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM If you are looking for a fast IS lens or the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM if you are looking a slower general purpose zoom.

What are your priorites?

Faced with a similar decision, I purchased a Canon 5D with a Canon 24-105 F4 L IS USM lens.to complement my 40D
