Getting to know me
Howdy Y'all,
First things first...thanks for the great forum. I'm sure I will learn much while reviewing the various topics. My name is Chuck, I'm a mis-placed Texan (Corpus Christi) who now lives in Bellevue, Nebraska. Years ago when film was popular, I ran a part time photography business (8 years) doing portraits, team photos, weddings, and various other projects. After I ended my business (long story), I put my cameras away for awhile. When digital cameras hit the market I gradually strolled back to photography strictly as a hobby. I use a Cannon EOS Rebel with the standard 18 ~ 55mm zoom lens, and a Cannon Power Shot A55 (point and shoot) which I tend to grab first. It's also fair to mention that I use my iPhone camera for those occasional "quick and grab" photos.
For the past couple of years (before retiring in May) I used my cameras mainly for work on various websites that I maintained. Now that I'm retired, I plan to keep photography on a "hobby level".
My biggest highlight in the field of photography was meeting Ansel Adams in person (in his gallery in Yosemite) and having the opportunity to talk to him about photography and learning first hand about the work he did in Yosemite National Park so many years ago. I studied his zonal system for what seemed like years during the years I "splished splashed" in my dark room. Adams was a very interesting man whose talents continues to amaze me.
