I remember when I was in hospital a photographer came in once or twice a week and set up a portable studio of all the newborns. The mums just wheeled their bubba down in their cribs and placed them onto the mat and the photographer just shot away. The photos are a touch "walmart" but a great keepsake. Maybe you could do a similar thing. Obviously your skills and experience would create something special and nothing like Walmart!

You beat me too it, I was going to say pretty much the same thing! Run a competition, winner gets free shoot and prints - a decent amount, too you're giving them a
prize and you get lots of leads in return. I would think that most mothers groups wouldn't mind putting up flyers. Then you collect peoples email address and phone numbers and get to market to them over the following couple weeks.
