i have my Sony Cybershot P&S with me at all times, it's the DSCW220, a GREAT little "automatic" (no aperture or shutterspeed choices) camera.
as for my DSLR, when i go out shooting, i bring my whole kit. when i go somewhere *thinking* i might wish i had my DSLR, but not going out for a fullblown photowalk, i just bring my Nikon D90 and the kit lens, as it's the most versatile, covering a wide range of focal points
