Default Yard work

My neighbor, who incidentally helps all of his neighbors with their yard work, was busy blowing the leaves from his yard. Since he recently did my yard, before his own one day, I ran over and took his picture and sent it to him.

Here it is with a little Lightroom 3 beta adjustment and sharpening of the leaves.

Yard work

Not wanting to get too close to the action, yet have it appear to be coming 'at' me, I used a 50mm and a diffused flash. I wish there was a little more lighting closer to the house(bushes, etc) but I certainly didn't want to get any closer. How could I have accomplished that?

EXIF
Camera: Canon 40D
Exposure: 1/800 at f/1.8
Focal: 50mm
ISO: 400
Flash: Did fire - diffused through the use of 2mm white crafters foam over the flash
Time of day: 4:23p EST
