Thank you for taking the time to look at and respond to my post. Looking at the image again after reading your post I can see what you mean about the left taking up space that isn't doing much for the composition. As I didn't have my flash with me and I dread using the pop up flash on the camera, I didn't have the ability to add a fill flash, I could take it back to photoshop and see if I can do something about lightening the shadow in camera raw processing. I will revisit this. Thanks for your input I appreciate all the advice and help I can get.
