Hello everyone,

My name's Garrett and I'm from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I'm a first year university student heading towards most likely a chemistry BSc. at the University of Winnipeg, and with no idea what I will do beyond that.

I only took my very first photo a few short months ago, but almost immediately fell in love with photography. Over the past few months I've been spending every possible moment either taking photos, editing those I've already taken, or reading a wide variety of blogs and photo related sites.

I started out with a Canon PowerShot A570 IS point and shoot, and have taken several thousands photos with it. However, just earlier today I bought my very first DSLR, a Pentax K10D that I can tell already I will love very much. Along with the body I got the kit zoom, a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.5 which is nice, though I had initially hoped for a Pentax 50mm f/1.4 prime - this should soon be remedied.

I am very fond of critiquing other's photos and am not afraid to do so, but I also enjoy having my own work gone over with a fine toothcomb. I hope to become a productive member of the DPS community!
