Assignment: The Economy Oct. 28 - Nov. 11

Colones are our currency in Costa Rica.

Colones

Inflation has affected our colones severily, it is even noticeable in the coins size and the ones that have been taken out of circulation. The picture shows the current one hundred colones coin and the last version that circulated of the one colon coin, several years ago. The 100 colones coin is dates 2000, the 1 colon coin is dated 1982.

I can still remember when a one colon coin was as big as the current one hundred colones coin. What can you do with one of this coins? Well, not much, for example, I need 3.2 of them (320 colones) to pay the toll to get to work everyday.
