I just ordered my very first studio equipment, background stand, backgrounds, continuous lighting (2) with umbrellas.

I need some input. I might have missed a thread on 'set-up' and sorry in advance if I did.

How far from my objects do I place the umbrella lights? I've seen different set ups, some having the umbrellas facing the subject and some facing away...which way is correct?
