I'm confused. Tamron makes a 70-200 f/2.8, but not an f/5.6. They do make a 70-300 f/4-f/5.6. These are two very very different lenses.
And if you have the 70-300 f/4-f/5.6, I have to tell you that nearly any lens that goes longer than 300mm is going to cost a lot more than $300, excepting mirror lenses which have huge compromises in image quality.
Can you give us an actual budget in numbers? Everybody's idea of what constitutes expensive can be different. And a clarification on which lens you've actually got would help.
