I wrestled with the decision of going full frame or not for quite awhile. Because of budget contraints, I knew I could not afford a full frame camera and L lenses, so I went with the 17-55 f/2.8 IS. Pricey, but I couldn't be happier. I agree with Sybren about loving that lens. I considered the 24-105 f/4 L, but it didn't have the lower light capability I wanted. The 24-70 f/2.8 L didn't have the IS. The 17-55 had both, the only drawback was the EF-S. I've used it for weddings, portraits and landscapes and never regretted the purchase.
