I'm afraid I didn't have much success with this myself...I'm not very good with Photoshop and I got frustrated very quickly.

I think the key to getting this technique right is that you don't have to have the perfect background though. Yes, it helps to have a certain type of photo, but the results shown here...

...are nearly the perfect take on this technique. Not too over the top, but I'm guessing you could certainly take it that far.
On that note, has anybody ever bought any of the tutorials from Davro Digital? Are they any good? Sure seems to know his stuff...
