The G11 is nice, but the most expensive P&S Canon makes ($500). If you can spend a bit and want to stay with the smaller size factor, then the
S90 ($430) might be what you want (usable iso 800 and an f/2 28mm equiv. wide end on the lens are good good things). However, both it and the Panasonic LX3 are hard to find in stock right now.
But, IMHO, in the Canon lineup,the $250
SX120IS is probably the best bang-for-the-buck camera. It's a stabilized superzoom, has full manual control, and while it doesn't do RAW, the
CHDK can take care of that. It
specs/prices out close to the
Panasonic Lumix TZ-5. It is a big bigger than your SD, though.
