My suggestions would be to:
1) crop off the top third or so - that part of the photo doesn't add much to the photo, and distracts the viewer from the subject.
2) sharpening a little bit or a high pass filter might help, too.
If you can re-shoot, try getting a photo from a 45 degree angle or so, and try to get the subject in better light, as opposed to what looks like fairly deep shade.

I have to ask about the animal's face/eyes. I honestly can't figure out what I'm looking at. Can you explain what I'm seeing, please? Is it natural or done in post? Thanks.
