What do you mean by better variation in lenses? If it's just the differences in lens selection, I wouldn't use this as a primary deciding factor in a purchase. Both manufacturers have a nice line up of lenses and unless there is a specific lens by one manufactuer (and not the other) that you absolutely have to have then this would be a very low point in the decision process.
As for ergonomics. I'm with Rex and Adam. I love the way the controls work on all the Nikons I've owned. For me, the ergonomics of the Nikon's is very intuitive and has never required much thought. On the other hand, I find myself continually frustrated by the controls on Canon bodies. I suspect that if I had started with Canon it might be the other way around, but it could be a major factor in your decision. And as Rex points out, not something anybody else can tell you. I'd go find one and hold it in your hands, and if you can shoot with each of them to see which one feels better to you.
