Even if I spend most of my time with my 16-85mm, I cannot "recommend" this lens. It's too expensive if you compare it to other nikons product of this category. The 70-300mm (will fit an a FF body, same build quality, same optic quality) will cost you 200 CDN less...
I beleive Nikon created a kit with this lens and the new D300s because they don't sell enough. As OsmosisStudio said, you'll have difficulty finding a used one, but it's not impossible I you are patient.
Can I ask why you are looking for this lens ? Just curious
