you will need to get close to these birds with that camera.. and again echoing what i said in your deer thread.. DONT use the digital Zoom.

I always use a tripod for my birding... again if you have Continuous Shooting on your camera use it.. also Continuous focus is good too because they move often... in my back yard i hide behind the grape vine... and poke my lens thru and i have the feeder set up just on the other side...
