The "100mm" I assume you refer to is the Nikkor 105mm micro? That will not get you any closer than your 60mm as both lenses have a maximimun magnification of 1:1. The longer lens achieves the same magnification but gives you more working distance (the space between the lens and the subject).
If you like a lot of space between you and your subject then there are even longer macro lenses available - 180mm for Canon and 200mm for Nikon. The longer lenses are more expensive but are popular choices if you like photographing easily spooked insects such as butterflies and dragonflies. Longer lenses also have a narrower angle of view and tend to have more aperture blades so give the best bokeh (the out of focus areas).

You are right... that is what I meant - the work distance. When I get a bug I don't like getting too close to it so that "Work" distance is important to me. Thanks for clarifying that - and yes, the 105mm. Thanks again.
