Hi, I'm Sharon living in NYC.
The first time I was intrigued by the intricacies of digital photography was when I was using my family's first digital camera- Canon A70. I had a short trip in San Francisco and I did not understand why it could not take any low light photos. It didn't help that I was already frustrated with the random E18 errors, which seemed to appear randomly.
I got back home and read a lot of digital camera reviews. I ended up with the Sony DSC-V3. I was quite pleased by its performance when I went to Las Vegas soon after. Compared with my friends' cameras mine wasn't the slimmest and prettiest, but it actually took some beautiful photos that the others couldn't even manage.
I took a beginner's digital photography class in 2005, but it was only enough to get me superficially acquainted with the basic concepts. I also didn't spend enough time practicing the concepts I learned. What I've done since then is set my camera in Auto and if I don't like the results then I fiddle with the aperture and ISO.
The trial and error approach isn't really optimal so I've decided to go about this more systemically. I bought Tom Ang's Digital Photography Masterclass and hope to use it as a formal guide with its shooting assignments. I would like to start a thread on my progress with the book, which forum would it be appropriate?
Thanks for reading my long intro!
