I love camera motion blur...in some cases. Just for the texture and the feeling that it gives. An abstract world awaits for the photographer. My favorite is to just go out and drive.
The first is just what happens when you go out on a sunny day with your f stop set to the smallest possible aperture...in my case f36, and 30 mph on the car. to me it's pretty blah, but it shows an example of the motion that I am trying to use as part of the capture.:
The second is same fstop but only going about 10-15 mph. Because of the small aperture, and the slow exposure..1 sec I was able with a flick of the camera body to add some up and down motion with the back and forth I added a slight motion blur in PP(post production) to give it that zooming in look.:
The third is my car parked and the exposure was 1.3 sec same fstop. A pause for the twigs, then a longer "flick" for the blur then a slight slight radial blur in PP.
And the forth is one of my faves for the day...because I didn't do anything but take the shot. It's almost Monet like. Same fstop with a 2 second exposure gave me a chance to do a little up and down and a slight flick at the end to finish with a flare.
Now why do this...I don't know, It might end up in a studio somewhere for a BG. Plus fall is approaching like a midnight train. Fall color is about the best time for abstract art.
The best setup for this is to set your camera on aperture priority and take it all the way to the smallest(biggest number) aperture. Then let it set the exposure time. After a couple of test clicks you will get the feel for what a second or a half a second feels like and then just have fun. BUT PLEASE if you use your car blind(aka window) go out to a country road. When I took the above pictures, I was the only car around for 30 minutes. STAY SAFE!
An alternative is to do it all walking you can still get the effect, I just like using my car as tool as well.
