Hi!
My name's Martin, I just bought my very first DSLR 3 days ago, a Canon EOS 500D with the 18-55mm kit lens. Taking some good advice from other forums to learn all the ins and outs first so I know what I really need before investing in any more kit.
As for me I'm 31 years old and live with my other half in Bangkok, Thailand right now although I am originally from the UK. I am an IT Professional by trade, working for myself currently and always on the look out for good opportunities. My other half is 7 months pregnant which was the driving force behind the DSLR decision as I want to take the very best pictures I can to capture all the moments of the littles ones upcoming life. Other than that am looking forward to getting out and about taking some great shots of this beautiful country I live in.
Have been reading through a lot of the training guides and they have been super helpful, finally understanding all these features you take for granted on a Point & Shoot as they're hidden from you. Learning about the basics of ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed has been excellent and am looking forward to some good discussions and more great reading.
