It's not being compared to a dSLR. It's being compared to the other µ4/3 camera out there, the Panasonic G1/GH1. Rightly or wrongly,
dpreview's findings were "...By far the biggest problem with the E-P1 is its contrast detect autofocus system, which is not only slower than any SLR, it's slower than many compacts too."
