lol yeah I was joking as far as I knew you did not mean light source in your question.
However, at least everywhere I have been, when someone say "hey pass me that light" they mean a light source not flash them with my speedlight. Would be kinda funny however to setup all my lights at a shoot and rig them to trip optically and wait for someone to say "hey pass me the light" then WHAM how do you like 10,000ws in your face! hahaha
As for your question about how to get uninterrupted light rays... Simple make sure that what ever the light is bouncing off of is uniform. So the easiest way to get a light ray is to use a small bright point light source and then throw some dust into the air. Now if you want to get the light ray completely uniform you need to make sure that your dust cloud is uniform.
If you are talking about lens flare however that is a much more difficult and expensive problem. Basically the only thing I can think of to get good lens flare is to keep buying new lenses till you get one that flares how you like it. Or you can make your own lenses if you have the knowledge and the gear to do that.
