I've been interested in photography for 15 or so years now, since I took a photography class in high school. I've never done it professionally although do take on photographic jobs from time to time.
I made the progression from film to digital photography about 4 years ago now and have been fascinated by the evolution in cameras since they first appeared. I have a blog at Digital Photography Blog which follows the developments in digital cameras.
My Gear - I use a Canon EOS 20D DSLR and own an assortment of lenses for it. I also have a Fujifilm finepix f30 point and shoot digital camera.
I'm really excited about these forums - while we've previously had a flickr discussion group (which we'll keep running for a while) this forum will allow us to go a lot deeper.
Ok - so now it's your turn. Let us know who you are!

My name is Gene Grochowski. I am a professor at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten where I teach in the medical school. I used a film 35mm while I was in medical school in the 70's and got back into photography just in the last 2 years. I use a Canon EOS Rebel XTi and I have a Canon 2.8, 100mm, Macro; a Canon 4.5-5.6, 100-400mm, telephoto; and a Sigma 24-70, 2.8, EXDG lens. I recently splurged on a Gitzo tripod and a Really Right Stuff ball head. I take a lot of pictures from a boat and thus would really like one of the newer Canons with a higher ISO.
I want to learn to take photographs instead of snapshots and would like to get good enough to produce a portfolio. I like to shoot landscapes and Macros of flowers and butterflys.
