Wow! Lot of strong oppinions on this one. LOL


The main reason I was asking is because two weeks ago I was staying at a hotel near downtown Disney in Orlando, Fl. I spend almost 1/2 hour trying different things I found in my room to use as a tripod, so I could take some pictures of the fireworks display from the Disney parks. I've read somewhtere that if you unscrew the lamp shades from a stand up lamps, you can use it as tripos because the screw is the same size as the tripod hole in your camera. Well in my case the lamps in my hotel room were not conventional, so I couldn't use them.

I ended up puttin a chair on top of a table, then a waste basket on top of the chair. The result were not good because the camera was not leveled. So I figured something like this could be useful in situations like the one I was.
