Default lanterns and removing people

hey guys. this is a shot i took a few weeks back. im new to gimp/photoshop, so i was fiddling around. i cropped out the side as it thought it was kind of distracting. a concern that i have is regarding the way i used the clone tool. as u might have noticed, i basically took the person on the left out by cloning over. it's my first time doing this, so i guess its a pretty rough job, i gave that area a gaussian blur to blend the strokes in, and motion blur to match the overall image.

what else do u think i could've done/done differently? ( i tink the focus of the image, the lanterns, are a lil off centre after editing, should i crop the right side too?)

a quick qn, if i crop teh image, will that give me different size of the image? (do i have to resize manually before printing)

and also, of greater concern to me, will the altered parts look obviously fake when i get the photo printed at the usual 4R size?

looking forward to learning from your comments, thanks alot!
