Hi~
My name is Cindy and I just got an Olympus SP-565UZ camera. This is my 7th digital camera in about 6 years (eeek!) Up until now I've been a point-and-shoot sorta gal. The Olympus seemed like a good camera to step up with - the price was right and it seemed like it wouldn't be too intimidating for a novice like me. However, after leafing through the manual I can see that it's going to be some time before I understand most of the functions.
Prior to this I was using a Canon PowerShot A540 (which has some manual settings however I never mastered them in the 11 months that I've owned it) and before the Canon all of my five prior 5 cameras were automatic with no manual settings.
My goals with the camera are to understand the various functions so that I can quickly choose the best settings for the photo at hand - you know to be able to "capture the moment" before it passes. That doesn't seem like a very tall order, but I'm really not sure how to get there at this point.
Oh, and I have a blog that has some of my pics on it --you'll get an idea of the type of thing I snap --it's not art, but it makes me happy:

I look forward to learning from others here.
