Thanks everyone, your thoughts are much appreciated.
I like contrasting views, it gives me something to think about! I was pleased with both for different reasons, and I'm glad that someone liked the contrast between the living flower in the spotlight, and the dead one in the shadow.
I probably will play around with photoshop at some point, but these (and two others with a butterfly on) were my first out of the camera shots that I was actually pleased with. Usually I have to tweak something, be it a quick crop or a major RAW rescue package. So I was interested to see if anyone liked my photos just as they were.
I was pretty lucky that the lighting was so lovely that day. It makes a change from white blank skies!
