Ah! You must have had exposure bracketing active. I can't remember where you set that, it's on one of the menus though. I bet that's what it is.
EDIT: Press menu, go to second menu from left. Top entry is AEB. Make sure that it is set to zero (an underscore under zero, nowhere else). If you see three marks there, then AEB is on and you will get varying EV every three shots.
