I chose the same subject for this week's entry as I used in the last assignment because I really wanted to see the difference adding a reflector would make.
I took this image under the same lighting conditions as last week. I used the overhead kitchen lights and light coming in from another room, no flash. I added a mirror to the right side of the image (doll's left) as my reflector. I took the image from the same angle as last time but cropped out the portion of the image that would have shown the reflection of my stove (using my camera viewfinder). In last week's image I had to blur this out, post-production.
The addition of the mirror as a reflector causes a subtle change but I do believe it makes the image overall a better one. As you can see, the boy's umbrella has better definition in this image than it had in the previous image and the lighting on the doll seems softer and more consistent overall. Or - maybe it's just my imagination.
