Definitely--removal of a feature, whether you need it or not, always feels vaguely like a ripoff (my Nikonian photo-geeking friend
still froths whenever the words "interchangable focus screen" are mentioned--his lowliest of lowly film cams had 'em, his
D700 doesn't). And when it's a feature you've had for decades and relied upon for most of those decades, I can see why some folks are grumbling. I have to say that I adore having aperture rings when I adapt an old MF lens for my XT, because
there is no other way to control the aperture. You should see the crazy stuff that goes on when it comes to adapting G lenses to the EOS mount to get aperture control back (mostly, it's the 14-24 for 1DsIII owners).
