Default Hello to everyone

I live in Tennessee very close to the beautiful Smoky Mountains with my husband and 5 long-haired miniature dachshunds. I have two adult children and one precious 22 month old grandson.
I'm a disaster volunteer for the Red Cross and have been a photographer on disasters for the last 3 or 4 years. Sometimes I get into the disasters before the rest of the Red Cross. It's interesting, scary, sad, and sometimes awkward. I'm not sure how to discreetly take pictures of tragedy. Any advice on how to do that would be great.
I teach forensic science so I'm no stranger to difficult situations. But my favorite subject is my grandson.
My silly dogs run away at the sight of a camera, but my grandson will look at me and say "Cheese!"
I use an original Canon Rebel. It needs to be replaced, but it's still doing Ok.
Looking forward to becoming part of this community.
