I think the effect may be enhanced if you focused in closer on your point of subject. The hands. Perhaps cropping your picture closer to again, focus on the hands may help. and also bringing more of the hand it play may also enhance it.Were you using a flash of any sort? I'm asking because of where the shadows fall.
I love taking pictures like this tho. I have pics of my grandsons feet wrapped up in a blanket that turned out phenominal
