I find that you need to learn to embrace the wrinkles, increase subject to background distance or get wrinkle resistant material.

I have backdrops that wrinkle and I don't fight it. I store them wadded up in a ball so that the wrinkles are random, or twisted lenthwise (like ringin out a rag) so that the wrinkles are vertical.

If I want a smooth background, I use my foam-baked materials or seamless paper.

The creases that come from folding backdrops are worse than wrinkles to my eyes.
