I leave mine in the car when I am somewhere that doesn't allow cameras. I have a DeVille that has a center armrest and under that there is a large compartment between the seats. If you broke into my car you really would not even know that compartment is there. Well, now you would...lol!
I have had my car pretty hot inside during the summer but under all that leather and inside this little cubby hole its fine. I do not do it alot though cause i never feel uncomfotable with my camera.
