I think this is really good for your first try at light painting. Normally when I do light painting or night photography of that sort I use f/18-f/22 because I normally use bulb and have the shutter open for quite a bit. Both of your subjects are in focus which is good, it's not blurry and is pretty funny. To avoid having to brighten to lights afterwards I would suggest telling them to slow down a little bit when they're moving the lasers. The slower they move them the brighter it will show up in your picture, either that or use a smaller aperture.
