I still meet people taking pictures on rolls of plastic smeared with some sort of photosensitive chemical goo every now and then (eww). Apparently it's a variation of what they did in the XIXth century. Very quaint IMO but they don't seem to mind and some even manage to take good photos. Go figure.

I almost hate to admit this, but occasionally I use lenses that require me to reach to the front of the camera and twist a hardened metal ring to adjust the aperture blades and then twist an entirely different ring in order to focus, and if I'm off by so much as a few degrees, the entire picture is blurry.

On a more serious note, do you have other lenses? While a 50mm is a great lens, without a kit lens it seems like you'll lose some serious flexibility for general use.
