My name is Dawn and I hail from New Jersey, USA (any other Jerseyans out there?)
I found bits of several of the above posters message true to myself as well. I too learned photography basics starting Sr. year of High School (1990s!) and continued my first semester of college thinking of majoring in it.
I've worked with a manual Ricoh film camera (LOVED it!) as well as several cheap film point and shoots, an expensive auto film SLR (which I used so little I regret wasting the money), and currently own a digital P&S. I have a lovely Nikon D80 on layaway and should be picking that up by next week, so I'm VERY excited about opening expaning my photo opportunities again. I too lost many of my skills post manual SLR, and look forward to gleaning insights and frankly just getting out and shooting more often!
I was looking for photography assignments, which brought me to your assignment board. What a neat board and site! I can see that there is a wide spectrum of skill among members, which is both comforting and exciting.
I'm looking forward to participating in the assignments as well as reading and responding to the variety of posts on the forum here!
