I like both. I like the patterns of the red on black. Pretty cool. It depends on what kind of statement you are trying to make. The sideways one reminds me of a vid I made for my friends ambient music.

Cloning isn't necessary on a black background like the one you have. Just sample the black and paint over it. Or copy and paste a piece of black over it. That's what I'd do anyways.
