I think it looks great. I'm no expert so I may be wrong, but since the fish's body bends backwards the back end would probably be less sharp because it's further from the lens anyway, right? So I'm not sure aperture would have changed that. But I may be completely wrong on that.

Either way, I think the effect looks great overall. Really nice photo. I guess the only thing I'd say is it could be a bit brighter? Good job on avoiding any glare or reflection on the glass.
