A different view of a common week

Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/8
Focal Length: 48 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0/6 EV

This is a sort of long shot..

My daughter picked me some "weeds" today for a flower bouquet. Most of them were Queen Anne's lace. When I looked at their underside, for the first time, and I noticed the very interesting pattern and thought it would make a cool shot.

Now, what does this have to do with food? Well, a boyfriend of mine, many, MANY years ago, told me that Queen Anne's lace is actually is a wild carrot. You can pick eat the root. So, he told me, if I was ever in a situation of dire circumstances, I could actually eat this weed to help survive.

I always remembered his story and, to this day, often think of his comment when I see this flower. So this common "weed" found in abundance in our part of the world is actually a food!

Let's just hope I never have to put his advice to use!

Irene
