Hi
I'm Carol from London, UK. I found this site a few days ago when Googling for information about digital photography because I've just bought a digital SLR. The site and the forum look to be full of interesting tips and great photos. I've had a Konica Minolta Z2 digital camera for a few years, and before that a Minolta film SLR, but I've mostly stuck to 'auto' mode with both of them. Now I've got the new camera, it's definitely time for me to learn more about it and use some of those dials and settings. The camera is a Sony Alpha 100, which I chose because it's basically a Konica Minolta and will take the lenses from my old film SLR. I've only had it a week and I'm very pleased with it so far.
My main interest is motor racing and I love taking photos when I go to races. The Z2 is too slow for close-up action shots - I've got lots of photos of empty bits of track! - so I mostly concentrate on long-distance shots around the circuit, and also stationary cars, drivers and other subjects around the paddock and pits. (I'm not talking about Formula One here, because it's impossible to get close to anything!) Now I've got the DSLR I'm going to learn how to pan and get some proper racing shots.
I also like to take lots of photos of places and events as a sort of visual diary. But now I've discovered this forum, I hope to join in some of the assignments and take photos just for the pleasure of taking photos.
