I'm pleased by the subtlety of the green; had you not described it, I wouldn't have guessed at added coloring. The grayness overall, though, could easily come alive if you boost lightness (on Adobe PhotoDeluxe, this is different from "brightness"), and a little contrast after. Done slowly, you won't lose detail, and the shot will gain an outdoor clarity.
Cropping this way, three sides unevenly cut off, and the third just touching the side, is a little distracting, compared to a shot where all the petals show, and none touch the frame. Or crop so it's obvious you wanted a closeup of the center.
Good work.

Thanks Jiminy - as always I value your critique and learn from your expertise.
On the subject of these small images and possibly the reason for people skipping past them. Please tell me, my pics always come up as thumbnails, never a large image with my text. Why? I upload these into Flickr, copy the link for the medium sized image and they
still come up as a thumbnail attchment?

Where the earth am I going wrong - someone please help!
