Default Classic Rock Challenge XXVI

This week we take you back to early 1978. This self-titled album by Van Halen was recorded throughout 1977 & released in February of 1978. One of the greatest debut albums of all time. Van Halen used to play in the Mid-west before they really became famous all the time. David Lee Roth used to come into a local tavern I frequented whenever they were in town(Madison, Wi.). I always thought he was a pompous a**. He used to steal the attention of all the girls! How the heck was I supposed to compete with that!! Well, many of you have probably heard the story about the M&M's & them wanting all the brown ones taken out. Well it's true but for a different reason than you have probably heard. They say it was to assure that the venues they were playing at actually read the contract. If they didn't have the brown ones taken out, what else did they miss in the contract? It would be a cue for the bands manager to check everything closely. So, here it is, their debut album, Van Halen
