Please advise what you mean when you say no more than 500px on the longest edge? (I'm new to this site as of today... I take great pix but don't know what I'm doing.... yet)

Depending upon which editing software you use, you should have the option of having it automatically re-size based upon you putting in one of the 2 required numbers. Your picture is either "portrait" or "landscape". If it is portrait, then the longest edge will be the height as opposed to landscape, where the longest edge will be the width. The longest edge can be no more than 500 pixels.
