This shot was from my threesixtyfive set a couple weeks ago... (pasted description and how I made the image from my flickr photo page description).
When
tootdood selected "
busy, busy, busy." for threesixtyfive as·sim·i·lat·ed wed.nes.days for today, I was like "ummmmm....", and freaked a bit... taking a picture in the most crowded spot I could find? So I wandered around at lunch and tried a few shots but none of them really worked. Then this idea hit me... the lunch rush had died but I think it worked out for the better.
As for the song choice, I think this image totally conveys it... and this version is FAR better than the original Tears for Fears rendition.
All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
...
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Mad World
It is a Mad World out there... the endless hustle and bustle, always more to do at work, always somewhere to go and something to do... never enough time to just sit back and relax and enjoy this thing we call life. Sometimes I seriously wonder if we were better off in the days before these huge technological advances, I mean sure, you can do things faster, but that just means we can now cram what would have been a week of work a few decades ago into a single day... and are expected to just do that much more in that much less time.
Watch the video, I promise you won't be disappointed. Better yet, listen to it if you haven't heard it before while
viewing this image on black... then watch the video. And for an added bonus for you gamers out there, the
good old Gears of War trailer featuring the song.
This composition is actually composed of 9 images, I took an image of myself against the wall during a lull in traffic and then snapped a few more of people as they walked by using a slower shutter speed. Felt a bit creepy with the camera sitting on a ledge, my remote in my hand tucked under my arm snapping as people went by... interesting thing is - only a couple people noticed, the rest didn't even give a glance sideways. Also used the
TTV - 1938 Kodak 35 layer, once in screen layer mode set to 50% opacity and then once in multiply layer mode.
